About Tabarca Island

The Smallest Inhabited Island in the Mediterranean

Tabarca is the smallest inhabited island in the Mediterranean and one of the most unique places on the Costa Blanca. Just 20 minutes by boat from Santa Pola or Alicante, the island feels like stepping into another rhythm of life — quiet, car-free, and surrounded by crystal-clear waters.

An 18th century relic

Originally fortified in the 18th century to protect the coast from pirates, Tabarca still preserves its historic walls, lighthouse, and traditional stone houses. Today, it’s a protected marine reserve, famous for its turquoise sea, snorkelling spots, and relaxed island atmosphere.

Things to do in Tabarca

Visitors come to Tabarca to swim, explore hidden coves, enjoy fresh seafood by the sea, and disconnect from the noise of the mainland. There are no cars, no crowds, and no rush — just sea air, sunshine, and the simple pleasure of island life.
